Warmest congratulations to Sir Peter Soulsby, Chair of our congregation, on becoming the first elected Mayor of the City of Leicester.
As we all remember, Great Meeting has long been affectionately known as the “Mayors' Nest”, having historically spawned many of the city's previous mayors. We are immensely proud that Sir Peter now fills that role, and we wish him a most happy and successful tenure.
Peter is pictured here, during Great Meeting's tercentenary celebration in 2008, with our member Cllr. Manjula Sood , the then Mayor of Leicester and the first Asian lady Mayor in the UK. Manju will continue to support Peter as one of his Assistant Mayors. |
